# Using emojis from keyboard shortcuts

If you use ENGAGE on a Windows or macOS device, you can activate emojis through keyboard shortcuts.

* To activate an emoji through your keyboard, press the corresponding number key.
* To identify which number key is assigned to which emoji, press the **F** key to open the emojis panel.

If emojis are enabled, the emojis panel displays all of the available options. If the use of emojis is disabled, the emojis panel displays only the options to raise your hand or clap.

When you activate an emoji, the gesture icon changes to display that emoji. The brightness of both the chosen emoji and the gesture icon pulse for as long as the chosen emoji is visible in the Session.
