# Emojis

You can use emojis to communicate non-verbally with other people in the same Session. If emojis are enabled, you can choose from the following:

{% hint style="info" %}
The raise hand and clap options will also trigger an avatar gesture on desktop devices, as well as Android and iOS phones and tablets. For more information about gestures, see [Using gestures on a phone, tablet, or desktop device](/engage/essential-features/gestures/using-gestures-on-a-phone-tablet-or-desktop-device.md).
{% endhint %}

For most emojis, after you select the option, a single icon appears above your head and floats slowly upwards. The exceptions are the heart and clap emojis, which create a multiple icons. You can't see your own emojis, but you do see an indication of how long the emoji is visible to others. For instructions on how to activate emojis, see the following sections.
