# Pausing notifications

ENGAGE displays notifications to inform you about important events. For example, when someone requests to join you in a Session, when a host has chosen to seat you, or someone has started to record you.

You can pause the appearance of these notifications if you don't want to see them. For example, because you need to concentrate on the delivery of a presentation or want to record the screen.

To pause notifications, complete the following steps:

1. In a Session, open your menu or tablet.
2. From the side menu, select **Settings** <img src="/files/PCjqep1FzgkHYTLk4ATQ" alt="" data-size="line">.
3. On the **Settings** page, select **User Preferences**.
4. On the **User Preferences** page, select **Pause Notifications**.
5. In the **Pause Notifications** panel, select how long you want to pause notifications for.

## Resuming paused notifications

1. In a Session, open your menu or tablet.
2. From the side menu, select **Settings** <img src="/files/PCjqep1FzgkHYTLk4ATQ" alt="" data-size="line">.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.engagevr.io/engage/configuring-the-engage-app/pausing-notifications.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
