The gizmo is a familiar concept to anyone that has experience with 3D modelling software. You can use it to adjust the position, rotation, and scale of objects.
To activate the gizmo, open the control menu for an object, and then select Gizmo. For more information, see Accessing the control menu.
The gizmo menu options are described in the following table:
Icon | Name | Description |
---|---|---|
RESET | Reset rotation or scale to initial values. Applies to the currently selected transform tool. | |
SNAP | Toggle use of incremental steps in real-world units. When active, you can change the multiplier to operate in metres, degrees, and square metres. Note: The accuracy of distances depends on how the Location was created. | |
WORLD SPACE / LOCAL SPACE | Change whether the transform tools follow the orientation of the scene’s world space, or the selected object’s local space. | |
TRANSLATE / ROTATE / SCALE | Cycle through the transform tools. | |
MULTIPLIER | Change the step increment to use with transform tools. When snap is inactive, the step increment ranges from 1/10th of a unit to 10 units. When snap is active, the step increments for translation and scale range from 1/10th of a unit to 10 units. For rotation, the step increments are 1°, 5°, 15°, 45°, and 90°. | |
CANCEL | Close the Gizmo. |
