# Adding a color fade transition

To create a fade through black, complete the following steps:

1. Move the playhead to approximately `00:05:34`.
2. Add a **Fade to Color** IFX to the experience. Its placement isn’t important because it affects all users simultaneously.
3. On the timeline, select the cog icon for the *Fade to Color* IFX.
4. Select **Choose Color**, and then choose the color that you want to fade through.
5. Select **Fade In** and **Fade Out** to enable the fade transition.
6. Select **Save Effect**.
