There are several IFX that you can add to your sequences to provide special functionality. These IFX are available only in the Content Editor. See the following table for more information.
When you access the IFX library, you can select filter , and then select the Special Functions filter to view only the special function IFX.
Name | Basic usage |
---|---|
Black Fade Sphere P
A sphere with a black inside surface.
You can use this IFX to create a space that's isolated from the rest of the location. For example, you could create an area where you show an introductory video before you reveal the surrounding environment. Note: You can't apply a Fade In or Fade out to the current version of this IFX. However, you could use Fade to Black for User Camera Screen or Fade to Color IFX to hide the transitions.
Fade to Black for User Camera Screen
Fades the user’s view through black.
Use to hide transitions where you move the users or change the environment. You must set values for the Fade In and Fade Out parameters. Otherwise, there is an immediate transition to and from black.
Note: We recommend that you use the Fade to Color IFX as a replacement.
The fade to black begins at the start of the IFX on the timeline. The fade from black begins after the end of the IFX on the timeline. To adjust the fade durations, change the values for the Fade In and Fade Out parameters.
Fade to Color
Fades the user’s view through the specified color.
Use to hide transitions where you move the users or change the environment. You must set values for the Fade In and Fade Out parameters. Otherwise, there is an immediate transition to and from the color.
The fade to the chosen color begins at the start of the IFX on the timeline. The fade from the chosen color begins after the end of the IFX on the timeline.
Forced Seats Invisible Everyone
Moves all users in the Session to a specified area, and locks them in place.
When you edit the IFX, you see an object that identifies the area and direction in which users will be placed. The object becomes invisible when someone plays the content.
Use when the sight of other avatars could detract from the experience. For example, when you display introductory information or use a 360 video.
Host Option – Seat All
Seat all users - as though a host in the Session had performed the action. Users can leave the seats if they choose to.
Use to move users to seats within the environment.
Note: The location must contain seats as part of the environment. Any IFX seats are ignored.
Host Option – Seat Lock All
Seat all users and prevent them from being able to leave their seats - as though a host in the Session had performed the action.
Use in situations where you want all users to remain seated but allow hosts in the Session unlock seating.
Note: Hosts will be able to leave their seats.
Host Option – Unlock All Seats
Unlock previously locked seating so that users can choose to leave their seat - as though a host in the Session had performed the action.
Use when you transition to a period where users are free to leave their seats but are not required to.
Host Option – Hard Mute All
Mutes all users and prevents them from unmuting themselves - as though a host in the Session had performed the action.
Use in situations where you want all users to remain silent but allow hosts in the Session to maintain control. For example, to unmute individual users.
Note: Hosts will be able to unmute themselves.
Host Option – Soft Mute All
Mutes all users - as though a host in the Session had performed the action. Users can unmute themselves if they choose.
Use in situations where you want all users to remain silent but trust them to unmute themselves responsibly. For example, when transitioning from a conversation period to a presentation period.
Host Option – Unmute All
Unmutes all users - as though a host in the Session had performed the action. Applies only to users that were previously unmuted. Users who have chosen to mute themselves remain muted.
Use when you transition to period where users are free to talk to each other.
Host Option – Voice 3D Off
Turns off 3D voice for all users - as though a host in the Session had performed the action.
Use to disable spatial audio in a Session but allow hosts to turn it on.
Host Option – Voice 3D On
Turns on 3D voice for all users - as though a host in the Session had performed the action.
Use to enable spatial audio in a Session but allow hosts to turn it off.
Play Shared Screen Video
Plays a specified video as a shared video.
Use when you want to play a video to all users in a Session. You can load a video from any publicly available URL, which includes YouTube, or from cloud file manager. The video is played on shared screens for as long as the effect is on the timeline.
Note: Users, including hosts, can’t control playback of the video.
Rumble Main Cameras
Adds a visual vibration to the user’s view for as long as the IFX is active on the timeline.
Use in combination with sounds and other visual effects to give the impression of earthquakes, collisions, or other disasters.
Moves the playhead to a specified time on the timeline.
You can use a Skip to Time IFX to create a loop on the timeline, or in combination with a trigger to move to a specific part of your sequence.
Note: If you leave the default time of 00:00:00 unchanged, the IFX has no effect. To skip back to the start of your sequence, enter a small value for the time, such as 00:00:01.
Transport all Players to Location
Moves all users in the Session to a specified area.
Place the rectangular region where you want to transport users to, and then rotate it to determine the direction in which users will face.
Use to move all users to a specific starting point or to change to a new scene within an environment.
Note: To confirm the direction in which users will face, enable LOCAL SPACE in the gizmo. Users will face along the z axis.
