Moving a group membership

If you have the required permissions, you can move user memberships from one group to another. If you move a user's membership, you remove them from the original group.

To move a membership, you must have owner or admin permissions in both the group that you will move it from and the group you will move it to. If you have an owner or admin role in a group, you automatically have owner permissions in any subgroups.

To move memberships, complete the following steps:

  1. Go to , and then log in.

  2. From the side menu, select Groups.

  3. Select the View icon for the group that you want to move the membership from.

  4. Select the Memberships tab.

  5. Select the check box for each membership that you want to move.

For information about how to select all memberships, see Select all. For information about how to search for memberships, see Search bar.

  1. Select the Move button that appears above the search bar. The Move Group Membership panel appears.

  2. In the search field, enter the name of the group that you want to move the membership to.

  3. Optional: If you want to make the new group the users' default group after you copy their membership, select the check box.

If a user if a member of only one group after you move their membership, that group will be their default group regardless of whether you select the check box.

  1. Select Move.
